Assessment
The student's progress is regularly assessed by
means of various tests and the results are recorded. School reports
are issued to parents at a parent/teacher meeting after Christmas
for all students not taking State Examinations. The parent/teacher
meeting for examination students will be held at the October mid-term.
The Pre-State Examinationsare held in February.
Examination results are an important means of measuring progress.
The school and parents value other aspects of progress as well e.g.
extra curricular involvement, and personal development. The school
will continue to assist all the children to reach their full potential
in co-operation with the parents.
The School Development Planing Initiative in the school incorporates
a review of assessment with a particular focus on "Assessment
For Learning" (AFL) a concept being promoted by the Department
of Education and Science.
The workgroup for AFL will report back with a view to developing the iimplementation
of AFL in the school.
