Curriculum
Special Needs
All students access
mainstream curriculum mixed-ability classes. Special needs teachers
give additional classes in basic literacy and numeracy skills to
support students requiring such help. These students are withdrawn
as required from language classes other than English. These arrangements
are made in consultation with parents and the transfer of pupils
to and from the supported teaching groups is encouraged, according
to the needs of individual pupils.
Overall responsibility for co-ordinating special needs and the identifying,
assessing and monitoring of pupils with special educational needs is undertaken
by Ms. G. Daly in consultation with the Department of Education Psychologist,
Ms. Colette Hourihan.
