CAMOGIE just goes from strength to strength in Coláiste Choilm with their Junior team emulating last year’s Seniors to capture the school’s second All- Ireland camogie title in two years. Aoife McCarthy led the way scoring 2-5 of her sides total to seal victory in the All-Ireland Junior final against Presentation De La Salle of Bagnalstown on Saturday last at Nowlan Park, New Inn. Coláiste Choilm were in control from the throw in with Sarah Buckley quickly settling any nerves with a well taken free. Aoife Scally and Aoife McCarthy both picked off some fine points early in the game, receiving great support from Órla Ní Chathasaigh on the 40. De La Salle had to defend tirelessly in this 1st half; they were unlucky themselves not to rattle Coláiste Choilm’s goal but for great work from Lisa O’Shea and Emer O’Sullivan in defence.

Soon Coláiste Choilm’s class and dominance was to the fore when Samantha Coomey goaled followed by two more by Aoife McCarthy. The game was effectively over at half time with the scoreline reading 3-10 to 0-01. Coláiste Choilm’s display of all their skills was the most impressive aspect of this one-sided but sporting game. Cork U16 panellists Brea O’Callaghan, Alison Coughlan and Aisleen Sheehan all proved their worth over the hour. The opportunism of Samantha Coomey was evident in front of goal on more than one occasion, scoring two of her sides four goals. Substitute Grace Ní Dhomhnaill rounded off a great afternoon at the office with a late point leaving a final score-line of 4-13 to 3 points. Well done and heartiest congratulations to all involved.
