LCA 1-  walk out Defying the elements to conquer ‘Torc’ mountain... Go To Gallery   Since we joined the LCA programme back in September, my class and I have taken part in a number of team building exercises and trips away. Our most recent challenge was a day trip to ‘Torc Mountain’ in Killarney. Early on Friday 26th of October, our class, accompanied by Ms. Faherty and Mr. Dennehy, set off to Killarney. Everyone was wrapped up well in warm clothes and sturdy boots. The weather was dry and very cloudy but we knew we would be fine as long as it stayed that way and didn’t rain.           Before we knew it, we were there, and as we started to climb the mountain we were full of energy and excitement. Little did we know this was about to change! As we approached the halfway point, it began to get much colder, the wind got stronger and it began to rain. Within minutes we were all saturated and the lads were miles ahead of us, as we (the girls) kept taking breaks! After about a two-hour hike up-hill, our destination was just within view.  Then we saw the lads.  They had reached the top and were now on their way back down with Mr. Dennehy. At this stage we were all wet, cold and hungry and decided it was time to head back to the bus. The trip down was very dangerous as it was very steep. We stayed together as a group and helped each other to get back down safely. We were relieved to be in the bus again and in out of the wind and rain!           However, the day did not end there! As we made our way home, we were treated to a lovely warm meal in one of Killarney’s finest restaurants. This was a great surprise as everyone was starving!! It was a great day and everybody really enjoyed themselves.           A special thanks to Ms. Faherty and Mr. Dennehy for taking the time out to accompany us.
