Coláiste Choilm held its annual Health and Fitness week from the 26th - 30th March. Different activities were organised to encourage students to be more active and health conscious and displays were held during lunch to highlight students who represent Ireland across a wide range of sports. Wednesday saw 1st years take part in both track and field events in the first year sports day, with medals being presented on Thursday by Cork City soccer players. The teachers again took on 6th year students in competitive games of soccer and basketball, being narrowly defeated in both. The main event took place on Friday, Jersey day, where the school attempted to break a world record for consecutive penalty kicks, as a fundraiser for new school facilities. The previous record set by the FAI was 1401, which the students broke early in the day, finishing at 3.30 with an amazing new record of 6,600! The school would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser and contributed to student sponsorship cards. The money raised will go towards a new study hall, extensions to practical facilities and a school gym.
