BUILDING A GREAT TRADITION
We set out in 1987 to establish a school that would draw on the best of the various traditions in Irish Education. With one honourable exception all of the initial staff are still working in the school. Their collective experience even then was impressive and enriched the vision of the new school. John Fitzgibbons, Brian Tobin, Pádraigín Ó Donoghue, Margaret Dewhurst, Liam Tyers, and Áine Andrews, Pat Kinsella and the original ninety-six students rose to the challenge of the initial year.

Temporary accommodation was supplied by Ballincollig G.A.A. Committee. Managing without specialist rooms or resources was no problem to the enthusiastic groups of pioneers. In normal circumstances the teacher employment phase in a greenfield-school lasts for approximately six years. We were singularly fortunate that due to gradual growth and expansion the employment phase has lasted until this year. Each year there was an infusion of new and enthusiastic staff who brought a tremendous vitality and energy to the school.
