Introduction Continued (Page 1 2 3 )
The back-up of Cork Co. V.E.C. was so important in the early years, given the inadequacy of the educational planning process prior to the building of the school. The numbers in Primary Schools in the catchment area clearly indicated that a much larger school would be required to meet the needs of the catchment area. The consequence of this underprovision was severe congestion in the school for most of its history. At one stage we had 750 students in the school built for 400. In spite of this, the popularity of the school continued unabated and thankfully we now have adequate accommodation.

It is a tribute to the teachers and students that they managed to excel even when the physical resources were limited. The Dept. of Education & Science in conjunction with the V.E.C. have now provided a state of the art school to match the quality of the educational experience. The Parents’ Association has enhanced the facilities by providing a Gym, All-Weather Pitch, Retractable tiered seating, five school buses, and ongoing support of the extracurricular programme. Coláiste Choilm students are special. Year in year out they continue to excel in so many ways. There is no end to the awards, trophies, and individual triumphs at local and national levels.
The Roll of Honour for the year highlights memorable
moments of the 2005-2006 school year.
