E-mail Print PDF

Long-tailed Tit. Picture by Michael Finn.

Between December and February each year,Bird Watch Ireland asks members of the public to keep note of the highest number of each bird species visiting their garden every week.  They also ask for information on the size of the garden being surveyed, the kinds of food, if any, being offered to the birds, and so on.  Taking part is fun, easy and an ideal way to get to know your garden birds better; it also makes an ideal school project.Take part in the survey here.

Miss Saigon - The Story

E-mail Print PDF

Miss Saigon is a musical set during the Vietnam War. As the war turns against the Americans, villagers are rushing to Saigon for refuge. One of them is Kim, a 17-year-old girl whose family was killed. She becomes a stripper at the Dreamland club where she meets a young American GI, Chris. The two quickly fall in love and move in together. When Saigon falls however, Chris is evacuated. Thinking he would never see Kim again…The cast, filled with phenomenal talent, has exceeded the boundaries of the typical Broadway style production. This is a musical that simply must be seen by every true theatrical lover out there.

Xmas Bake

Traditions are very important at this time of year. In Coláiste Choilm the annual Christmas Cake & Baking Display takes place around the feast of St Nicholas. Thanks to the home economics teachers for inspiring the students to think creatively. The train in our photo was made by 1st year student Grainne Holmes. It looks fantastic and uses simple ingredients like a swiss roll, biscuits, chocolate fingers and a bit of creativity to come up with a lovely display.
